The Paint with Green Foundation is a small organization, with big vision. The team has extended knowledge about sustainability and environmental protection. We try to translate it to simple messages and easy steps to take, to make it manageable for the everyday people to make the right choices in their lives.
~ Our goal is that by raising awareness among children about the importance of environmental protection, we can make the next generation really care about sustainability.
~ We want children to feel involved in how much influence people’s behavior has on our planet. In this way, they grow with the knowledge and things we learn when we are young, we tend to do when we are old.
~ Our primary target group is elementary school children aged 6 to 12 years. Through our workshop program we bring knowledge about the problems (waste management, global warming, overconsumption -to name a few), and we offer ideas for making sustainable choices, we want to stimulate a “green mindset” in the children.
Words from our founder:
Hi! I’m Gabriella. I’m from Hungary but I have been living in the Netherlands for a long time with my family, in the province of Utrecht. I have 2 children. I studied IT and accounting.
In 2014 we joined the local Hungarian weekend school and in 2017 I was asked to join the volunteer teacher group to help them and give a few lessons for the toddler group. That went (and felt) very well, and I started regularly participating in their work, at first only with toddlers, but then I learned the methods for teaching the children to read in Hungarian, and since then I have been teaching in all groups, verses and songs for the toddlers, reading for the lower graders and Hungarian culture and history for the upper graders. I really enjoy teaching and working with children, I discovered a hidden profession within myself as a teacher. So much that I decided to take up studies about education.
The concept of Paint with Green was born on a cold winter day in January 2022. As a financial controller a bit bored with my job, and a voluntary teacher in the local Hungarian weekend school in The Netherlands, I was already thinking for a while, how could I get involved to work more with children, -which I absolutely love-, and on what way could I contribute for a better world. Environment protection was always very important for me, since my young age, and on one day it has just popped out of my mind: “I can teach environment protection to children! So that it is, my passion is becoming my mission! I can raise an educational organization and bring the message about everyone’s role in preserving our environment, that we have to take care of nature which surrounds us, take care of the planet which is our home. I want to plant the seeds in their hearts while they are young, so they know what choices to make when they grow up.”
From my several years of teaching experience in the Hungarian school, I learned how I can make an impression on kids, how I can make my message meaningful to them. So I started to develop a workshop material, I was brainstorming, digging for information, writing study materials and creating crafts. It took more than a year to get ready to go.
The foundation was chosen as an organization type to represent that we are working for a good cause. I have 2 partners to set up and manage the foundation, both of them my friends and are enthusiastic about environmental protection. The three of us thus form the Paint with Green Foundation.
